White Tooth Fillings

Dr Mark Taylor working on a patient

What are White Tooth Fillings?

When your teeth decay, a filling is required to restore your teeth back to their normal function and shape. When your dentist gives you a filling, they will first remove the decayed tooth material, clean the affected area, then fill the cleaned out cavity with any type of filling.

Different types of fillings include porcelain, gold, amalgum (silver), or composite (plastic).

Everybody is different, so a consultation is required to see what best suits your needs and budget.

Tooth Filling Procedure Process.

Once we have finalised your consultation, your dentist will recommend the next treatment steps for you.

  • You will be given local anaesthesia to numb the area around the tooth so you don’t feel a thing.
  • Your dentist will use a drill to remove any decay and then shape the tooth for the filling.
  • Your dentist will etch the tooth with an acid gel prior to placing the filling.
  • Depending on your type of filling, your dentist may layer on the resin and harden it using a bright light.
  • Once the filling has been placed, your  dentist will polish the tooth.

Then you simply enjoy your new, strong, restored tooth.
